Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping the semiconductor industry by increasing demand for advanced devices while changing how computing systems are designed, manufactured, and evaluated. Performance increasingly depends on coordination across the entire compute stack, giving rise to integrated AI semiconductor platforms optimized around workload-level performance rather than individual component specifications.
At the same time, AI deployment is expanding beyond hyperscale data centers into enterprise infrastructure, telecommunications networks, factories, vehicles, PCs, smartphones, and other edge devices. This broadens semiconductor demand across both leading-edge technologies and the specialty and mature-node technologies required for sensing, power management, control, and embedded intelligence.
Asia Pacific is indispensable to the semiconductor ecosystem, enabling this transformation. Taiwan combines leadership in leading-edge manufacturing and advanced packaging with specialty processes and large-scale AI system production, while Singapore, Malaysia, and Vietnam provide complementary capabilities across an increasingly distributed regional production network. China occupies a distinct position: it remains deeply connected to regional semiconductor demand and manufacturing while simultaneously building a more self-reliant technology ecosystem.
