Security 2025 report – A roadmap for the future

September 30, 2021

FOREWORD

A roadmap to drive future growth and capability

Australia’s $11 billion Private Security industry is a dynamic, innovative and rapidly evolving sector of the economy. One that grows in scope and complexity daily. With a national workforce of over 180,000, security has become an omnipresent part of everyday life, with more people interacting with security personnel and security devices than ever before.

As the peak body for security professionals in Australia, the Australian Security Industry Association (ASIAL) has long played a vital leadership role in driving industry standards, growth and development.

Given its size, scope and increasingly important role as part of Australia’s national security mix, there is an imperative for the industry to continually evolve and further professionalise to build capability and capacity.

To provide a roadmap to drive future industry growth and development, ASIAL engaged the Australian Security Research Centre (ASRC) to undertake a comprehensive analysis of the future challenges, trends and opportunities facing the industry.

The report identifies key drivers to industry growth and sets out the way forward to shape an innovative, responsive, professional and respected industry.

A strong Private Security industry is vital to Australia’s future prosperity. This roadmap sets out a clear vision for a world-class security industry, one that requires collaboration between industry, government and users of security services.
