Experienced security researcher interested in the technical aspects of malware deobfuscation, detection, removal and prevention with a focus on network security, mobile data exchange and advanced persistent threats.

With more than ten years of hands-on experience in the security industry, I have been quoted in broad media such as the BBC, PC Magazine, The Verge, Mashable, Ars Technica, MSNBC and ZDNet, amongst others.

I started writing computer software in 1995 using the family’s Z80-based computer.

I signed up for my first full-time job in 2007 at Romania’s largest and oldest university where I became acquainted with system administration, computer networking and computer clusters.

In 2008 I joined Bitdefender and started doing security. I’m currently Director of Threat Research at the Romanian antimalware vendor, where I’m building awesome stuff, curating the news for you and speaking on behalf of my company on threats or technologies.

Specialties: Malware deobfuscation, dynamic analysis, computer forensics and networking security.
