Chris Hockings

Chief Technology Officer, IBM Security.

I am the cyber security CTO for IBM Australia and NZ, focused on leading client engagement across software and services across the region. I am responsible for developing and then driving the cyber security technology strategy for existing and new clients. I manage and lead the cyber security solution designers and technical pre-sales client facing cyber security staff in IBM A/NZ. I am passionate about working with clients directly in addressing modern cyber security challenges.

I regularly publish content, engage in all mediums of media, have an active social profile and enjoy engaging in strategic conversations with my global CTO team about the future of cyber security. I am proud of my work to secure some of Australia’s largest enterprise and government clients, and I continue to innovate and transform our offerings and their solutions in response to changing market demands.

I was lucky enough to start my career within an Australian founded Access Management and Network Security startup. We established a client focused innovation program and in 2000 were rewarded by being acquired by IBM. In 2008, I led the Asia Pacific integration of another cyber security acquisition into IBM. Having spent 17 years of my career in Global and Asia Pacific cyber security solution focused roles, I moved back into the A/NZ region in 2017 to lead cyber security innovation, strategic engagement in support of the IBM A/NZ business. I am excited by innovative partnerships that harness emerging technology to solve acute cyber security challenges. I have written and been granted 45 cyber security patents (inventions) and I achieved CISSP certification.
