Engineering Leadership and Advocacy

Neil is a successful leader with demonstrated extensive experience across Government and engineering environments, both domestically and internationally. Neil is currently a Director of Collaborative Outcomes. Collaborative Outcomes aims to challenge the conventional wisdom in complex social and technological systems, delivering new and pragmatic outcomes for disparate stakeholders. He served in the Australian Defence Force from 1982 to 2011. Neil has experience internationally, and nationally across many Federal Departments and several state jurisdictions. He has worked with non-government organisations, academic institutions and the engineering industry across different cultures with an emphasis on the Asia Pacific region.

Neil has focused on strategic policy development in the fields of energy security, humanitarian action, sustainability, and Defence capability. Neil has deep experience in civil-military interaction, disaster management in the Asia Pacific, and strategic leadership in crises. He has demonstrated research skills and provides unique insights into innovation. He has published papers on issues ranging from energy security and humanitarian action to a detailed Defence Capability manual.

Neil is a recognised leader in the engineering field and is an Engineering Executive. He is a civil engineer who has extend his education with Masters Degrees in Science and Defence Studies and is currently researching energy resiliency for a post graduate Doctorate at the University of New South Wales – Canberra.

Neil is a highly accomplished speaker and facilitator. He has conducted a series of workshops on collaborative action which address complex issues with a variety of stakeholders. He regularly speaks at conferences in Australia and internationally. Neil is a regular guest lecturer at several universities and has appeared on TV and in radio and print media.
