Professor Matthew Warren

Director of RMIT University Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation 

I am an experienced, proven Cyber Security and Academic leader. My key areas of leadership include:

Cyber Security Leadership – I am currently the Director of the RMIT University Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation I was formally the Deputy Director of the Deakin University Centre for Cyber Security Research and Innovation, I was formally a research theme leader in the Australian CyberCRC (Co-operative Research Centre) and I have also held Cyber leadership roles in professional bodies such as the ACS, AISA and IFIP.

Academic Leadership – I have held a number of academic leadership roles including being a Head of School and Associate Head of School (Research) in the Deakin Business School, School of Information Systems and Deputy Head of School, Deakin University, School of Information Technology. My other academic leadership roles includes being a Professor of Cyber Security at RMIT University and Deakin University and a Chair of Information Systems in the Deakin Business School, School of Information Systems, Deakin University.

Curriculum Leadership – I have held a number of roles including being the course (program) director of four undergraduate degrees courses and two postgraduate degree courses (roles at Deakin University, School of Information Technology and Deakin Business School, School of Information Systems, Australia and the Plymouth Business School, UK).

I am a prolific and passionate researcher in Cyber Security and have authored and co-authored over 300 books, book chapters, journal papers and conference papers. I have worked with government in advisory capacities and I have also been a Cyber Security consultant for numerous international and Australian organisations

I have taught in Australia, Finland, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom and I am also a Fellow of the Australian Computer Society in recognition to my contribution to Cyber Security.
