Shahmeer Amir, a bug bounty hunter and CEO of SpeeQR, discussed the evolving threat of ransomware at the Ransomware Resilience 2026 conference in Kuala Lumpur.
He highlighted the sophistication of fileless and memory-resident ransomware attacks, noting that over 94% of companies were affected in 2018. Shahmeer emphasised the potential of AI in detecting ransomware by identifying anomalous behavior rather than relying on file detection.
He also updated on SpeeQR, an audio conferencing system designed to replace traditional conference phones, which is in the process of closing a major funding round to perfect the product and focus on marketing.
