NEW ZEALAND TECH WEEK SPECIAL
3
- VIRTUAL SESSION
- Tuesday, 20 May, 2025
- 10:00am AEST / 12:00pm NZT
- Expand your Tech to Paradise: From Aotearoa to the Sunshine Coast, Australia!
The ‘Expand your Tech to Paradise’ online webinar will educate and inform New Zealand tech companies how the Sunshine Coast is being transformed through world class infrastructure and world leading connectivity. Â
The webinar will be of interest to New Zealand companies considering expanding to Australia and will inform the opportunities available on the Sunshine Coast and how the customised support available from both the Sunshine Coast Council and local industry groups can help New Zealand companies “land and expand”  in Australia and then launch into Asia and Pacific Island markets.
The Sunshine Coast has Australia’s largest greenfield CBD under construction in Maroochydore, offering the fastest data from the east coast of Australia to Asia and the second fastest to the US. The recent announcement of the partnership with Google, NEXTDC Data Centre and Sunshine Coast will develop a new landing point in Australia for the Tabua trans-Pacific subsea cable that will connect the United States and Australia to Fiji.
This briefing will showcase how companies are leveraging the Sunshine Coast’s unique digital infrastructure to test and trial their new technologies prior to commercialisation. Whether it’s IoT devices, sports-tech applications, or next-gen consumer electronics, the robust digital backbone ensures that businesses can test their technology in a real-world environment. Hear why leading Australia’s entrepreneurs are choosing to call the Sunshine Coast home and the extensive support available to businesses once they locate on the Sunshine Coast
It will also feature opportunities in the health and wellbeing sector, including new $100M in infrastructure being built, how healthcare companies are using XR and AI tech trials to accelerate business growth and the protection available for the healthcare industry by an Innovative Health Cyber Support Sharing Network.
A second focus session will feature how the Sunshine Coast is poised to be Australia’s most connected city: Hear how NEXTDC’s cutting edge data centre is the perfect hub for businesses to connect with national and international major networks and digital service providers, and why Walker Corporation is investing $2.5B in the Maroochydore CBD.Â
Major project include the Sunshine Coast hosting seven Olympic and two Paralympic events during the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, offering an exciting moment for athletes and sports enthusiasts, but also a tremendous opportunity for tech entrepreneurs in the sports technology sector.
The Sunshine Coast, is an unbeatable location for New Zealand businesses looking to expand across ‘the ditch’.
