The Water & Soil Intelligence Initiative Malaysia (WASIIM) brings together leading Malaysian agencies; including space, geospatial, agricultural research institutions and related groups to explore how daily soil moisture intelligence can be harnessed for national benefit.
Hosted by LatConnect 60 (LC60) with support from the Government of Western Australia as part of the broader Australian-Malaysia G2G collaboration framework, WASIIM serves as a neutral, collaborative platform for dialogue, demonstration, and joint exploration.
The initiative aims to:
- Demonstrate how satellite-based soil moisture data can enhance agricultural planning, farm management, disaster management and water resource efficiency, and military operations planning;
- Strengthen cross-agency collaboration between Malaysia’s research, policy, and operational communities;
- Contribute towards the development of a National Daily Soil Moisture Map, aligned with Malaysia’s long-term food and water security goals;
- Encourage knowledge exchange between Malaysian and Western Australian partners in the spirit of mutual capacity building
