Delegates from Curtin University’s Binar Space Program recently handed over three cube satellites, or “cubesats”, bound for the International Space Station (ISS) to its launch provider Space BD in Japan.

The satellites will travel onboard a Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency resupply mission in August which will — alongside Curtin’s satellites — take essentials items to the astronauts and cosmonauts onboard the ISS.

Curtin’s Binar-234 mission’s next step in Western Australia’s space journey, after launching the state’s first spacecraft, the BINAR-1 CubeSat, in 2021.

We speak with Senior Engineer Dr Fergus Downey, School of Earth and Planetary Sciences, Curtin University.
