Cohort plc showcased it latest defence technology from five of its seven specialist businesses at Indo Pacific in Sydney, Australia 4 – 6 November 2025.

The Group’s subsidiaries – ELAC SONAR, SEA, EID, EM Solutions and Chess Dynamics – wdeliver maritime defence solutions across areas including surveillance, communications, and anti-submarine warfare.

We speak with Andy Thomis, Chief Executive of Cohort about EM Solutions, an Australian company and the newest member of the Cohort Group – and get insights into its maritime satellite communications capabilities, with the King Cobra satellite-on-the-move (SOTM) terminal. King Cobra offers high-capacity, resilient, multiband communication and has been selected by the Royal Australian Navy for fleet-wide SATCOM modernisation. The EM Solutions team will be exhibiting its compact Cobra terminal – a lighter SOTM solution for smaller vessels, known for its multiband flexibility and robust tracking.

ELAC SONAR has a suite of advanced sonar capabilities for submarine operations and surface vessels, including Sphere® a surveillance, mine and collision avoidance, underwater communication and measurement system.

The company was also showcasing ENLITOR, its passively operated sensor system that utilises sensors installed on the seabed to enable permanent underwater surveillance. With a range of 100 km, the system is capable of covering large areas, and it provides 24/7 data from regions that are often difficult to access, including critical choke points, without requiring its own power supply or complex maintenance.
