Curtin University is engineering and operating some of the world’s most advanced radio astronomy technologies, uncovering the origins of the Solar System and exploring the expanses of space.

Curtin University is the home of two large space research centres – the Space Science and Technology Centre and the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy – and collaborate with some of the biggest names in space research, including NASA and Lockheed Martin.

They’re also leading the Murchison Widefield Array project – a low-frequency radio telescope in remote Western Australia, which is a precursor to the Square Kilometre Array telescope –the world’s largest radio telescope.

We speak with Mr Anantha Venugopal, Program Manager for Space and Emerging Technologies at the WA Defence Stand at the Avalon Australian International Airshow 2025.
