We speak with Dr Victor Khoo, Director, Survey & Geomatics Division, Singapore Land Authority.

Dr Khoo has recently been appointed to represent Singapore as the Co-Chair of the United Nations Expert Group on Land Administration and Management (EG-LAM) for three years from August 2022. The appointment marks the first time a Singaporean has assumed the Co-Chair appointment for the EG-LAM since its founding in 2015.

As the national geospatial agency, SLA has partnered various stakeholders from businesses to academia to harness the potential of geospatial data, to help achieve Singapore’s sustainability goals. Dr Khoo and the Singapore team will share Singapore’s experience in 3D mapping of the environment to produce high-resolution geospatial data and 3D city models with the EG-LAM on coastal protection, solar panels deployment, greening initiatives and effect of urban heat.
