We speak with Dr Vienna Tran MBBS (Hons.), DAME, an Australian Medical Doctor and Space medicine researcher.

Growing up in Adelaide, South Australia, Vienna became fascinated with the light-polluted suburban sky that she could see from her backyard.

Vienna now works as a medical doctor in Mount Gambier, South Australia with a dream to pursue a road less travelled: space medicine. She is also a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner and has worked for the Australian Space Agency. She has published research on the use artificial gravity to maintain the muscle health of astronauts.

Vienna has undertaken postings with the Royal Flying Doctors Service (RFDS) and the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF). She is an alumnus of the International Space University’s Southern Hemisphere Space Studies Program (ISU-SHSSP 2020) and the South Australian Space School.

As a passionate educator, Vienna enjoys mentoring school-aged students, giving public talks and writing articles on space health, industry and STEM.
