The Australian Centre for Space Engineering Research (ACSER) held the CubeSatPlus2024 Innovation and Development Workshop at UNSW Sydney’s Kensington Campus on 9 – 10 July.

Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed a remarkable evolution in Australian cubesats /smallsats—from educational and research tools to the commissioned commercial and government platforms shaping our space landscape today.

In light of this transformative journey, the theme for the 2024 event was NEW SPACE: Unbounded Skies, emphasizing growth and development of the sector. Leading researchers, government entities, and industry professionals gathered to explore the latest advancements in space technology.

The program covered launched missions, new initiatives, space domain awareness and highlights included a new session on Women in Space, along with the New Zealand space sector, and turning Startups to SMEs.

We speak with Professor Andrew Dempster, Director of the ACSER.
