About KNX National Group
KNX Australia (KNX National Group Ltd) was formed by a group of manufacturers, integrators, associations and training establishments along with other interested parties to promote the KNX standard within the Australian market.
Governed by an elected board, KNX Australia is a collective of active KNX advocates whose experience reflects KNX activities within Australia. This website is one of the key focuses of the organisation and its activities, outlining the basics of the KNX standard and providing visibility to its members via the members’ directory.
All members of KNX Australia have agreed to abide by a Code of Conduct and act in the best interests of promoting the KNX Standard. There are currently two levels of membership – Full Membership and Associate Membership.
In November 2017, KNX Standard – IS0/IEC 14543-3 (Parts 1-6) was adopted as an Australian Technical Standard by Standards Australia. This formal recognition and endorsement provide confidence to both KNX Association members and the clients they serve, about the quality of standard KNX can bring to their next project.
KNX Australia is part of a network of national associations who are all members of the international KNX Association, based in Brussels.
The KNX Association has a vast worldwide membership from major manufacturers, integrators, training schools, academic institutions and other interested parties. Around the world there are over 420 KNX Manufacturer members, over 77,000 KNX Partners and 446 KNX Training Centres in 68 Countries.
About Ian Richardson:
Ian Richardson is the Building Solutions Manager for the Electrification Division of ABB Australia and honorary Chairman/Director of the KNX National Group Australia since 2010. He has previously held roles in product management and marketing for low voltage power distribution products and building automation and has more than 40 years of industry experience Ian represented the KNX National Group Australia and ABB Australia at the KNX Association Awards Event at the 2018 Light+Building Fair in Germany where he spoke to the 2000 strong audience about the recently adopted Australian Technical Specification for Building Automation and presented one of the international KNX Award categories. He is a regular contributor to Connected Magazines and has presented to BICSI South Pacific, Engineers Australia, Australian Institute of Hotel Engineering and Voltimum Australia. Ian is an active member of a number of Standards Australia Technical Committees including CT-001, EL-004, EL-006 and EL-064. He is also a member of the Australian Industry Group Electrical Advisory Panel, Electrical Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers Forum and the Chairman’s Advisory Group. He has worked with the RMIT Sustainable Engineering Industry Forum, RMIT Industry Advisory Committee, Voltimum Australia ‘Ask the Expert’ panel and is currently having increasing involvement in electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Australia.
